Deacon Ronald David McCalister, 66, of Fort Worth, Texas was born on September 29, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas, Ronald was the proud son of Curtis and Laura McCalister.
He was a product of the Mansfield Independent School District and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1977. As a Mansfield Tiger, he played basketball with passion and carried that school pride with him his entire life.
After graduation, Ronald set his sights on building a future. He moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he became a skilled brick mason in 1981. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sheila Ingram. The two were united in holy matrimony on October 16, 1982, beginning a marriage that would span over 40 years and stand as strong as the bricks he laid.
Ronald loved the Lord with all his heart. He faithfully served his church in many roles—Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and servant-leader. He also used his God-given skill to lay bricks for the house of the Lord and was especially proud of building the famous wall at Cedar Hill Memorial Park.
Ronald’s strength was more than physical—it was spiritual. He was a man who stood tall in his faith, who worked with his hands, and who built his family on the solid rock of love, respect, and devotion. Ronald lived a life that left a firm foundation for his family, church, and community.
Ronald answered the Master’s call from labor to reward on September 6, 2025. A man of faith, strength, and character. He now rejoins his parents, Curtis and Laura McCalister; brothers, Nick McCalister and Thomas McCalister; and brother-in-law, Anthony Myhand.
Left to honor his legacy are his loving wife of 42 years, Sheila McCalister; his sons, Ronald McCalister, Mark McCalister (Tujunna), Marcus McCalister (Chassidy), and Charles McCalister (Schenetta); brothers, Brent McCalister (Shirley), Travis McCalister (Leslie), and Willie McCalister; five cherished grandchildren; sisters in law: Deneen and Patrice Ingram; brother in Law Nakia Ingram; and a host of other relatives and friends who will carry his memory forward.
Ronald’s life was a testament to hard work, faith, and love. He built walls that will stand for generations, both in brick and in the lives he touched.
