Patricia Haywood

Fort Worth

Ms. Patricia Ann Haywood was born on February 26, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas, where she was lovingly raised in the historic Stop Six community. She was born to Fannie Manning and O.C. Manning, and from birth was nurtured, guided, and deeply loved by her devoted parents, James and Bertha Ruth Harper, who raised her as their own and instilled in her strong values, faith, and resilience.

Patricia received her education in the Fort Worth Independent School District and proudly graduated from Polytechnic High School. With a heart for service and a desire to care for others, she pursued a career in healthcare, first becoming a Medical Assistant, and later advancing her education to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). She faithfully served patients within the JPS Hospital System and later completed her professional journey at Itasca Nursing Home, where her compassion, dedication, and gentle spirit were evident to all she encountered.

Patricia spent most of her life in Fort Worth until the early 1990s, when love led her to Hillsboro, Texas, after meeting Douglas Canada, her longtime companion and common-law husband. Together they built a life rooted in love and commitment until his passing ten years ago. During these years, Patricia embraced one of her greatest callings—raising her grandchildren, Trae and Armonie Haywood, from birth, pouring into them the same care, structure, and unconditional love that defined her life.

Approximately ten years ago, Patricia returned to Fort Worth, where she lived with Jordan and Punkin, continuing her legacy of love by helping raise her great-grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith and served faithfully as the Ordained Mother of her church, a role she cherished deeply. Patricia loved the Lord, loved His people, and loved serving—especially through her kitchen.

Cooking was one of her greatest joys. Every day was a good day to cook, but holidays were her specialty—where she always cooked far more than enough, making sure no one ever left hungry. Her meals were seasoned with love, laughter, and tradition, and her table was always a place of gathering.
