Helen E. Thompson took her place in heaven on June 26, 2026. She was born on September 6, 1932 to Roman and Alice Fontenot in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

She was a 1951 graduate of W.O. Boston High School in Lake Charles. She attended Grambling College of Louisiana for two years before returning home to pursue Cosmetology School and becoming a Hair Stylist.

Helen was preceded in death by the love of her life, Samuel L. Thompson and from their union, she leaves to cherish her memory, their five loving children. Anthony D. (Jenny), Roman L. (Monique), and Michael D. (Elizabeth) Thompson, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Malinda Thompson Mose’ and Vanessa Thompson Monasterial (Fernando) of Mansfield, Texas.

She was the number one cheerleader to each of her children in all aspects of their lives. From helping out with their band endeavors to cheering on the football and basketball teams at Oak Park Jr. High and LaGrange Sr. High schools, Helen was well-known in her community as an involved parent.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers Harvey, Sidney, Wilbert, Royal, and Erb and sisters Gladys, Doris, and Geraldine. She leaves sister Evelyn Perron to cherish her memory.

Helen was a Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Auntie, and Friend, to many who loved her. All will miss her dearly.
