Brian Madison was born on September 7, 1961, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Alex Jr. and Gloria Hicks. On July 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, Brian peacefully entered eternal rest and went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 63.
Brian accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Saint Stephens Baptist Church in New Orleans. His faith remained a cornerstone of his life. He later became a devoted member of Carver Desire Baptist Church, and after relocating to Fort Worth, Texas, post-Hurricane Katrina, he found spiritual community and purpose at The Potter’s House of Dallas. There, for 19 years, he served joyfully in the New Members Ministry and the Conference Registration Department—always with a welcoming smile and a servant’s heart.
On March 12, 2004, Brian married the love of his life, Katrice Goodman-Madison. Their union was a true testament to love, commitment, and friendship, spanning 28 wonderful years together. Katrice was not just his wife—she was his joy, his strength, and his favorite person to laugh with.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Gloria, his brothers Ronald and Alexander, his infant son Brian Jr., and his beloved uncle Arthur. He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy: his two daughters, Brittney and Brajuan; his son Brandon; his sister Paulette (Kenneth); his brothers Stefson (Patty), Eldridge (Jucynthia), and Guy; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Jr.; his confidant and cousin, Alvin (Betty); and his best friend and brother of 50 years, Frank (Camille). Also cherishing his memory are his granddaughters Bryanna and Angel; his goddaughter, Courtney; his godsons Matthew, Jerome, Milan, and Amair, along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Brian lived with a vibrant passion for music. He was a prolific singer and musician who never missed a chance to belt out a falsetto note from his favorite Earth, Wind & Fire or Daryl Coley songs. Brian was a product of the Orleans Parish School System where he graduated from Alcee Fortier Senior High School as a proud Tarpon. A gifted trumpet player in his high school marching band, Brian often shared animated stories about those glory days, filled with music, rhythm, and competition.
To know Brian is to know laughter. He had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and a motto that guided him: “I’d rather laugh than cry.” His laughter was contagious, and his jokes—both clever and corny—brought joy to every room he entered. He was also an avid fisherman and a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan. Whether casting a line in the waters of New Orleans or tossing horseshoes with family at City Park, Brian’s spirit was one of joy, generosity, and love.
Brian Madison lived with purpose, prayed with faith, loved with his whole heart—and always made room for laughter. His legacy will live on in every story told, every song sung, and every smile shared in his memory.
